Apple is expected to launch new 11.1-inch and 13-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ models with OLED displays next year. The purchase of panels will account for the largest share of material costs. One of the new manufacturing processes is the use of a double-layer structure that doubles the brightness of an OLED display and quadruples its lifespan.

Another process is the use of LTPO (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) and TFT (Thin Film Transistor Oxide Film Layer). According to The Elec, it will cost between $100 and $150 to procure OLED panels for current 10-inch devices, while it will cost $270 and $350 to produce the required 11.1-inch and 13-inch Apple panels, respectively.

As noted in the report, Apple is likely to pass on some of these material costs to the consumer.
