The new product will at least be thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Fold 5’s thickness when folded is expected to be just 13mm, versus 16mm in the previous generation.

The brand’s engineers achieved this by using a new “falling” hinge design that leaves 0.2mm of clearance when folded. Thus, the upcoming flagship will, in principle, be devoid of any noticeable gap between the halves.

All of this will also reportedly make the Fold 5 thinner than the Oppo Find N2, but still thicker than the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.

Note that Ice Universe is reliable due to accurate leaks in the past. For example, he was the first to reveal that the iPhone X will use a notch cutout.
