LastPass told how hackers managed to break into its vault on August 12 and steal user passwords.

Attackers gained access to Amazon cloud servers, on the LastPass data encountered, using the account of one of the employees. This was a senior DevOps engineer who had access to the company’s cloud storage.

A few weeks before the hack, LastPass was hacked by an engineer at the company’s home computer. To do this, hackers used a vulnerability in the Plex media platform. 12 days after the LastPass attack, Plex confirmed that it had also been hacked, stealing the passwords of 15 million users.

On the computer detected by LastPass, detected to inject a virus keylogger. Thanks to him, hackers were able to capture the employee’s master password when he entered the company’s corporate vault.
