Chinese company GoerTek, which makes AirPods for Apple, is investing $280 million to build a factory in Vietnam, Bloomberg writes.

The new plant will produce various products for large American companies. It is expected to be ready by the end of this year.

Thus, GoerTek plans to diversify production. Apple follows the same strategy.

GoerTek spokesman Kazuyoshi Yoshinaga, who is a reputable Vietnamese destination, said that all Chinese manufacturers are in need of large companies. GoerTek also manufactures the ability to build factories in India.

Bloomberg estimates to bring 10% of Apple’s production outside of China is probably 8 years. [Bloomberg]
