In units, sales of the PlayStation 5 totaled 30 million versus 18.5 million for Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S consoles. So Sony sold 60% more consoles than the Microsoft Xbox Series X and S combined.
Nintendo currently has a negative trend: the company’s share fell 0.5% to 27.7%, and Microsoft increased its influence by almost 2% from 25.5% to 27.3%. Analysts see the reason for the increase in user spending on Xbox console and Game Pass services.
Sony’s leadership is explained by hugely expensive PlayStation 5 sales, which not only remain, but also grow, despite prices, continued service scaling and high in-game monetization.
