The captain of Argentina’s third title at the 2022 World Cup, player Lionel Messi gifted 35 teammates with a golden iPhone 14 Pro. Apple smartphones customized by the iDesign Gold brand cost around US$160,000 (approx R$832,000).

The devices have a 24K gold-plated body with the emblem of the Argentina national team. In addition, each device bears the name and number of the jersey the player wore in the main tournament of world football.

Ben Lyons, owner of iDesign Gold, delivered 35 custom iPhone 14 Pros directly to Messi in Paris, France. The interview with the current best football player in the world was shared in a post on the company’s official profile on Instagram.

According to the information, gold-plated iPhone 14 Pro starts at $4,800 each. The brand also offers options in black and gold, white and gold, “rose gold”, “platinum” look and synthetic materials that mimic leather.

This isn’t the first time iDesign Gold has created custom iPhones for football players. French Kylian Mbappé and Brazilians Thiago Silva and Ronaldinho Gaúcho are some of the company’s clients.

For those who can’t afford to pay 25,000 BRL to buy a gold iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has a gold variant of the device. In Brazil, the “common” version of the smartphone starts at R$9,500.
