The Bank of Russia has extended until September 9, 2023 the restriction on cash withdrawals in the amount of $10,000. The regulator also extended for six months the ban on banks charging commissions when issuing currencies from deposits and accounts.
The extension of the restrictions on the withdrawal of currency in cash is reported on the Telegram channel of the Bank of Russia.
The withdrawal limit of no more than $10,000 or its equivalent in euros has been extended by six months and will run until September 9, 2023, the regulator said. The rest of the amount can be withdrawn in rubles, added the Bank of Russia.
For the same period, the prohibition on banks to charge commissions when issuing currencies from deposits and accounts is extended.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation introduced a restriction on cash withdrawal on March 9, 2022, then it was repeatedly extended. The regulator introduced a limit on currency withdrawals in response to a ban on the importation of US dollar and euro banknotes into Russia.
