You may have forgotten, but not so long ago the new rules for using WhatsApp were at the center of the discussion. The messenger even stated that users will lose access to some functions if they do not accept the new terms. WhatsApp later announced that the policy would not apply to regular users and eventually abandoned its plans to limit functionality altogether.

In response to the controversial policy change, the EU Commission sent a letter to WhatsApp asking “users to understand what they are agreeing to and how their personal data is being used”. Messenger has now agreed to make some changes to the way user agreements are distributed and will now include the ability to reject policy changes.
