WhatsApp has released a new beta version update marked as 23.5.0.71 through the TestFlight program. The update brings a new feature that is under development. “Groups Expire” which allows users to set an expiration date for the app’s groups.

Once the expiration date is reached, users will be asked to clear the group, which can be a solution to the common problem of confusing and irrelevant groups. Users will be able to choose from a variety of expiration options, including a day, a week, or a special date.

The new functionality is a good space management tool and should help save memory over time, especially for groups created temporarily for certain activities. WhatsApp has not yet announced when the feature will officially roll out to all users, but will release more details soon.

Authorizing payments via WhatsApp

in early March, Central Bank authorized WhatsApp payment feature with credit, debit and prepaid cards for companies within the app, in addition to transfers between contacts that are already allowed. The feature is expected to be available in the first half of 2023.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated the release of the feature. The platform’s Latin America head Guilherme Horn said the payments will be released in partnership with Mastercard and Visa. The function can help small and medium-sized companies increase their sales.
