New on TikTok! The Chinese video social network has announced a new feature in its system called ‘Series’. Currently available only to selected users, the tool allows creators to create collections of videos on specific topics and even sell them for what they find fair. According to the platform, ‘Series’ usage records will be opened for all TikTok users in a few months.

According to TikTok itself, ‘Series’ is an extra push for the app’s creators to feel more valued and their production to be appropriately appreciated within the platform. In this way, TikToker can build even stronger relationships with its viewers and reap the rewards of their efforts.

TikTok: How does the ‘Series’ work?

Once approved to use the ‘Series’, users can create collections of premium content that will be protected through a paywall that will be unlocked via a value to be defined by the creator. For example: a gastronomy-focused TikToker could create a series targeting sauces, where each of the videos in the saga teaches how to prepare a different recipe. It then sets a value so that other app users can watch that content.

According to the company, each series can contain up to 80 videos, each 20 minutes long, making for a longer and more immersive experience for those TikToker fans. Those interested in this scenario can purchase the series directly or via a link in the creator’s profile. Note that “series” creator videos must also comply with TikTok’s policies. Otherwise, it will not be approved.

TikTok said, “As we are in the early stages of the ‘series’, we will continue to listen closely to feedback from our community.”
