Twitter’s staff continues to shrink, leading the FTC to ask Twitter to turn over internal communications about new CEO Elon Musk and the ongoing layoffs.
“We are concerned that these staff cuts are affecting Twitter’s ability to protect consumer information,” an FTC spokesperson said last November.
However, the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee disagrees with the regulator’s actions: “There is no logical reason why the FTC, based on user privacy, should analyze all Twitter staff decisions. And there is no logical reason why the FTC needs all internal communications. Elon Musk on Twitter ‘of.”
Time will tell where this will lead.
