DuckDuckGo has incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) into its search engine with a new tool called DuckAssist. Unlike New Bing based on ChatGPT, new tool only extracts and summarizes information from Wikipediato get more accurate answers.

DuckAssist is based on the language models of OpenAI and Anthropic. However, DuckDuckGo states that it will continue to focus on privacy and will not share personally identifiable information with these companies.

The idea is to provide more accurate and complete answers, quickly and without leaving the search page. Also, DuckDuckGo claims that the new feature is completely anonymous and free, with no sign-up required to use it.

Now, feature being tested in English only, in the company’s browsers for mobile phones and tablets, and in extensions for Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. If the pilot is successful, the company plans to update its knowledge base and expand the feature to other platforms.
