Online IQ tests were conducted by volunteers between 2006 and 2018. Scientists tested the so-called Flynn effect. This is the name of a statistical phenomenon expressed in the gradual increase in IQ over the years around the world. Previous studies have confirmed this effect, finding that between 1932 and 2000 people gained 3 to 5 IQ points.

However, something seems to have changed recently. Numerous studies have shown that IQ scores drop in many European countries. And now it has become clear in the USA. In the new study, the authors found that the sharpest declines in IQ were among teenagers. They also stated that some skills, such as spatial reasoning, were better than previous generations, while others, such as problem solving, scoring numbers, and verbal reasoning, were worse off.
