Tinkoff bank, which fell under EU sanctions, began to inform premium clients about the possibility of obtaining a Mastercard card at the Kazakhstan branch of Freedom Bank. The customers themselves say that they cannot help with obtaining a card at the Tinkoff support.

Tinkoff began offering clients to open a card at Freedom Bank of Kazakhstan

At the end of February, the bank was included in the EU’s 10th package of anti-Russian sanctions. Subsequently, its mobile application disappeared from the App Store. At the beginning of March, TCS Group thought about changing the Cypriot jurisdiction.

As the Telegram channel “Come on people, come on!” wrote, the card opening service, which will allow you to pay in any country with the Mastercard Gold system, was offered by the Tinkoff chat bot. Such messages are sent to customers with a Premium subscription.

At the same time, support advises that there is only one card format available for launch: either digital or physical. You can’t do two at once. Additionally, Premium subscribers are sent a link to apply for a Kazakhstan IIN (similar to a Russian TIN).

As a Forbes correspondent was convinced, customers with a Premium subscription are sent materials with fees upon request for a Kazakh card. So, for foreign citizens, registration will cost 30 thousand tenge, about 5 thousand rubles.

One of the RB.RU readers said that he tried to issue such a card. He wrote in support of Tinkoff, but was told they couldn’t help. Other recipients of the Freedom Bank card offer faced a similar situation. Some users point out that technical support denies that the bank has said service.

RB.RU sent a request to Tinkoff.

After being included in the European sanctions package, the bank said it was preparing for a similar scenario. The new restrictions will not affect customer service, Tinkoff said.

Earlier, VTB announced that its Kazakhstan subsidiary had started issuing plastic cards of the Russian Mir payment system.
