Artificial intelligence topped the list of areas where Russians least expect a technological breakthrough

The greatest public demand for innovation and development is found in the field of medicine (49%), the food industry (44%), the pharmaceutical industry (41%), clothing and footwear (40%) and electronics ( 39%).

Alexandra Semenova, head of research projects at the NAFI Analytical Center, believes that the high demand for medicines is a consequence of the impact of the pandemic, the increasing attention of Russians to the sphere of their health care.

“In other areas, it’s more important that people meet basic household needs. On the one hand, this is a reaction to the high-profile exit of foreign brands in these segments, which opens up new opportunities for domestic manufacturers. On the other hand, in turbulent conditions, people are more likely to think about things they come into contact with on a daily basis, which provide them with basic stability and comfort,” Semenova said.
