Former Apple engineer John Berkey, who develops Siri, told The New York Times why Apple’s voice assistant isn’t as smart as ChatGPT and other chatbots.

According to him, the main problem with Siri is running in bad code. By 2014, the situation was greatly aggravated, because there were requirements for the creation of basic functions.

The Siri database contains a large list of words, including names of artists and places, and all of this is almost 25 spread out.

This is a big snowball Siri envelope. If someone wanted to add a new word, then the whole database was meant. This procedure can take up to six weeks. Adding more advanced features, such as new survey tools with many participants per year.

Siri always allows only those requests that are in its database. If the user asks the helper to do something that is not in his code, then he will not respond in any way.

In evaluating Siri, Apple engineers test the search for language patterns every week. When they will be ready and will be registered is unknown. [The New York Times]
