Since March 16, Metro has canceled card entry to shopping centers throughout Russia. This was reported on the retailer’s website. Previously, you had to have a guest card to enter.
The company suggests that removing the “final barrier” at the entrance to shopping centers “will allow more customers to learn about the benefits of shopping at Metro.”
The company added that the use of cards at the entrance allowed the network to create an individual loyalty system and diversify the service. The company intends to maintain rebates, coupons, and personal discounts.
Metro offers around 40,000 items for sale at wholesale prices. Since the beginning of 2023, the chain has also introduced more than 100 new items to the assortment under its own Metro Chef and Rioba brands.
