By 2023, the Russian online cinema market may increase in volume by 18-20% and reach 80 billion rubles, predicts TMT Consulting. TelecomDaily rated more modest results – an increase of 10-12%, up to 70 billion rubles, writes Kommersant.

The online cinema market will grow by 20% in 2023

The positive forecasts of the analysts are based, among other things, on the good results of 2022: despite the failure of the first semester, it ended with growth.

Market participants hope to maintain momentum through original content and the “correct marketing policy”, but acknowledge that the lack of high-profile foreign releases will continue to support piracy.

The head of TelecomDaily, Denis Kuskov, suggested that the growth of the Russian video streaming market will be facilitated by an increase in its own content production, “the number of new movies and TV shows could grow by 30%, to about 120 units.”
