A study published in The Astrophysical Journal suggests that such planets, always facing their parent stars on the same side, may have optimal conditions for the long-term presence of liquid water in the border region.

Scientists have shown that planets that are mostly covered with water are more likely to evaporate on the day side and form a thick layer of vapor, while on the night side, water exists only as ice. To do this, they created special climate models.

At the same time, such a scenario will not happen if there is too much land on the planet. This will lead to more favorable conditions for a potentially habitable environment.

It is worth noting that the search for extraterrestrial life has occupied the minds of scientists for decades. According to NASA, there are more than 4,000 confirmed exoplanets on which such life could exist.
