Until now, TikTok’s deep fake rules were limited to a single line banning content that could “mislead users to misrepresent the truth of events (or) cause significant harm to the participant in the video”. The company now says that all realistic content created with artificial intelligence (AI) must be tagged with a title or watermark.

TikTok said it will not allow the publication of any synthetic content depicting a real public official. In other words, you can’t just post deep fakes of celebrities. You may also not post videos showing how this public person promotes prohibited products or incites hatred.
