With otitis externa, cotton swabs should not be used, as you can become clogged with sulfur or injure an already inflamed external auditory canal. In this case, the release of sulfur should occur naturally – the ear canal is cleaned by itself.
The use of alcohol tinctures or even more water is not allowed. You can not self-medicate: it is unacceptable to self-prescribe drops and any medication, because otitis media can be caused by a bacterial or fungal infection that requires different treatment.
It is impossible to apply a heating pad to the ear during inflammation – this can increase the inflammatory process and cause even more harm, especially if it is purulent otitis media.
News cannot be equated with a doctor’s prescription. Consult an expert before making a decision.
