The scientists conducted a series of experiments on mice that showed the corresponding results. As part of the study, the researchers fed one group of females a high-fat diet during pregnancy and lactation, while challenging the other to eat a healthy diet.
And while children of obese mothers maintained a normal body mass index into adulthood, they were more likely to overeat unhealthy foods when provided with access to healthy foods. The opposite was observed in those born to thin mothers.
The results of the study highlight that pregnant women should eat a healthy diet to ensure the healthy growth and development of their offspring.
