As a result of this campaign, only one journalist has been harmed so far. The reporter inserted a USB drive into his computer, causing it to explode. He later suffered “slight injuries to his hands and face”. Fortunately, there are no serious consequences.

In other cases, according to Ars Technica, journalists either did not connect the drive or connected it incorrectly, or some other hardware limitation prevented the explosives from igniting. The flash drives were filled with RDX, a chemical commonly used in C-4 and other plastic explosives.

It is unclear who is behind all this. Law enforcement is investigating.
