The buyer of IKEA’s Russian assets, Luzales, is going to produce furniture for schools. RBC learned about this from the chairman of the board of directors of the company Ruslan Semenyuk.

The buyer of Russian assets IKEA will engage in the production of school furniture.

According to him, today the country’s schools are furnished mainly with chipboard furniture. This is an inexpensive material, but it quickly becomes unusable.

“A student leaves a backpack or sits down, and the edges of the furniture made of compressed recycling crumble, then you touch things, and everything breaks, it is uncomfortable,” says Semenyuk, adding that Russian educational institutions must install solid furniture of wood.

Thus, one of Luzales’ activities will be the production of high-quality solid wood furniture, which will be able to compete in price with popular materials for school furniture.

The focus in the new direction will not affect the release of the range of models of cabinets, tables and chests of drawers, shelves and beds already familiar to the company. At the same time, architecture offices will be attracted to work in new lines.

The products are expected to appear in two to three months and launch under the recreated brand.

Luzales’ products will be sold through Russian markets, Semenyuk adds. At the same time, the manufacturer is also targeting foreign customers. Currently, the markets of the Middle East and Latin America are of interest. At the same time, Semenyuk admits that deliveries to Western countries are possible in the future.
