OpenAI announced this Thursday (23) the gradual inclusion of a number of plugins in ChatGPT. The innovation may indicate that the company is expanding the chatbot’s capabilities, can turn it into a super app in the future.
“We hope that open standards will emerge to unify the ways that apps expose an AI-driven interface,” the company wrote on its blog. OpenAI states that the inclusion of plugins is executed in a secure environment that prevents external access.
In the first launch round, it is included 11 third-party plugins ranging from travel and booking sitesShopping platforms like Expedia, Open Table, and Kayak, shopping platforms like Shopify and Klarna, and even productivity apps like Slack and Zapier. ChatGPT has also integrated educational solutions such as Milo, Speak and Wolfram.
For now, the resource is only available to a limited group, which includes enrollment developers and subscribers on the waitlist. OpenAI plans to increase the reach within the chatbot from testing. ChatGPT also aims to allow developers to create their own plugins.

OpenAI also hosted a web browser and Python code interpreter on its platform.. The company provides the source code of a knowledge base retrieval plugin so any developer can host the information they want to add to ChatGPT.
With the navigation plug-in, the model can retrieve recent information and perform tasks such as answering questions about recent events, a function similar to that found in Microsoft Bing.
The translator plugin allows the language model to perform logical calculations and perform useful tasks such as solving math problems, analyzing and visualizing data, and converting files. Results can be shared with the user and included in subsequent calls.
