Nothing Ear 2 unreleased: headset fights AirPods Pro with new functionality

A NothingThe tech company founded by Carl Pei has announced its newest version: wireless headphones Nothing Ear 2. Aiming to improve the first generation of headphones, the new product offers a number of important improvements.

While the Ear 2 is similar to previous models, it has been redesigned with a few improvements. The earcups have the same shape, so the case is smaller and uses less material in its construction, but their interior has been tuned to match all the other changes in the specs list.

They also support LHDC 5.0, an audio codec that guarantees frequency transmission up to 24-bit/192kHz at speeds up to 1 Mbps. This means that sound transmitted via Bluetooth can be even closer to sound transmitted over cables.

Bluetooth and Android Authorization Controls

Nothing’s new product was equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, while the Ear 1 had Bluetooth 5.2. In addition, the latest model supports multi-point connections, allowing you to connect the headset to two devices at the same time.

The controls have also been updated: instead of tapping the bars, you now have to press them to control playback. This change makes control easier and more precise to start or stop duplication, change tracks, among other functions.

Noise and battery cancellation

According to the brand, the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature of the Ear 2 has been improved and is now more effective at blocking sound. In addition, the device adapts to the shape of each wearer’s ear canal, offering greater comfort. Also new is Adaptive Mode, which can automatically increase or decrease ANC according to the environment.

Battery life has also been improved. With the feature disabled, it is possible to get up to 6.3 hours of playback on the new product; this is an improvement over the advertised Ear 1’s six-hour lifespan. When the function is off and the case is fully charged, Up to 36 hours of playback possible without running out of battery.

Ear 2 headphones can be purchased from Nothing’s official website for $149 (about R$780 in direct conversion). For now, they are only available in white. It is believed that a black model will be released eventually, but the company has not commented on this.
