This Google announces special operating system feature for vehicle touch screens, Android Auto.

Wider dashboards naturally allowed the automaker to place a large touchscreen in larger cars, while other smaller models required a screen corresponding to the area to fit the dashboard.

What changes in Android Auto standardization?

Now, Android Auto’s new split screen will be available to all users of the feature, which was previously only for certain types of vehicles. With the update, basic features such as navigation, message display and media playback controls will be available to all users of the feature on a single screen, bringing much more practicality especially for those who drive.

As Android Auto’s Chief Product Manager Rod Lopez points out, automakers are getting more and more creative in embedding their onboard computers with touchscreens into car dashboards. All this freedom meant that some canvases were shaped like a surfboard, drastically different from more traditional canvases, for example, with the portrait style of other small canvases.

But with the new feature, Android Auto will work flawlessly regardless of the screen size and shape of any vehicle. The idea is that all key features of the feature can be enjoyed by users, even if the screen of a particular car model is of a simpler size.

Android Auto standardization isn’t the only new feature that Google has announced recently. The company also announced Android 13, which is being distributed in beta.
