Totani explained that asteroids collide with planets throughout the galaxy, leaving debris and dust behind each time this happens. With powerful impacts, some of this debris can be ejected with such force that they can fly out of their planet’s gravitational field into space. And if there is life on this planet, then particles of cosmic dust could indicate that.

Totani suggests the optimum size of space dust particles is about 1 micrometer – such tiny particles would be large enough to carry signs of life but small enough to escape their home planet. The scientist calculated that about 100,000 of these particles land on Earth each year. You should examine them.
