The US State Department announced that there will be an increase in the cost of visas for tourists, students and temporary workers from May 30.

The cost of some temporary work visas (H, L, O, P, Q and R) will increase from the current $190 to $205, and for traders and investors (E) from $205 to $315.

“NIV (Non-Immigrant Visa) fees are based on the actual cost of providing NIV services and are determined after a study of the cost of these services. The Department uses the Activity Costing (ABC) methodology to calculate the cost of providing consular services, including visa services, on an annual basis. Fees for most non-petition-based VINs were last updated in 2012, with some other VIN fees last updated in 2014.

This rule does not apply to other consular fees, including the waiver of the mandatory two-year residence fee for certain exchange visitors.

Work and travel visas are essential to President Biden’s foreign policy, and we recognize the fundamental role that international travel plays in the United States economy,” the statement said.
