A group of analysts at the company analyzed data on job assignments in the US and Europe and calculated that if productive AI fulfills its promise, it could automate 300 million full-time jobs worldwide.
The study also found that around two-thirds of existing jobs are subject to some degree of AI automation, and productive AI could replace up to a quarter of the current human workforce.
White-collar workers, especially US legal and administrative staff, will be among the most likely victims of new AI tools in the future. We are talking about 7% of workers in the United States – about 11 million people.
The Goldman report says widespread adoption of AI could lead to significant savings in labor costs.
