Researchers from the Max Planck Institute, Microsoft, Stanford University, and the University of Southampton set out to incorporate psychological concepts into AI algorithms. These new AI systems have already made significant strides in predicting human behavior, including predicting decisions such as recidivism and consumer purchases.
This development followed the failure of the Google Flu Trends project, which showed the limitations of traditional machine learning in a streamlined environment. The integration of psychological concepts such as “smart forgetting” aims to remove these limitations and enable AI systems to more accurately interpret and respond to complex conditions.
