If you’re the kind of person who can’t stand the notch on the latest MacBooks, I’ve got good news.

macOS 13.3 introduced the ability completely hide the entire notch. That is, officially, without external applications and any “hacks”. There will be no cutout, and along with the side parts of the “status bar” will also disappear. That is, everything will return to normal, as it was before the release of the firmware in 2021.

So…

How to Hide the Display on a MacBook

1. Install macOS 13.3 Ventura if you haven’t already.

2. We open System settings.

3. Go to the section Display.

4. Click on Additionally…

5. Turn on the toggle switch Show list of resolution optionsthen click on Ready at the bottom.

6. In the main window, turn on the toggle switch Show all resolution.

7. Choosing a resolution 1728×1080.

Everything, no bangs. Compare “before” And “after”:

This is the same resolution as the Mac’s default, minus the cutout area.

I did this on a 16″ MacBook Pro. It is possible that on other models it is necessary to hide the cutout, the resolution will be slightly different. Focus on the fact that it comes in the list immediately after the option marked (default).

Satisfied? I – no, the idea of this bang never really bothered me. But to each his own, of course. The main thing is that now you can do everything as it was, if you really want to.
