Yandex introduced new smart home devices with support for the Zigbee protocol, which allows you to start them faster, automate work and maintain communication without the Internet. This is indicated in the “Yandex” message.
In the spring of 2023, the new “Station Max”, the “Yandex Hub” and a set of sensors will go on sale.
Marat Mavlyutov, head of Yandex smart home, noted that Zigbee is currently the most common smart home protocol. “Later, when the world’s leading manufacturers switch to Matter, the software will automatically update on our devices,” he said.
“Max Station” with Zigbee
For the new Max, a proprietary Zigbee module was developed, which expands the capabilities of a smart home. Now you can connect sensors, bulbs, sockets and other Zigbee devices from different manufacturers to the column.
The new protocol allows you to create local scripts that automatically start devices and work without the Internet. So, you can connect a motion sensor and a light bulb, and the light will turn itself on, even if Wi-Fi disappears.
Zigbee devices respond faster to commands. Also, most of these devices run on batteries.
The new “Station Max” also features tri-band audio, 4K video, and an LED display. The device was equipped with five speakers with a total power of 65 W and Dolby Audio technology. The speaker has seven built-in microphones, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RJ-45 Ethernet, and 3.5mm jack for external speakers.
The device will be available in four colors: grey, blue, black and burgundy. The shape of the new “Max” repeats the design of the previous model, with the exception of the grille, it has become more elegant.
“Yandex Center”
The Yandex Hub device is designed for those who do not have a column with Zigbee. This is a compact device that can be connected to sensors, sockets and other devices, allowing you to create automation scenarios.
If you connect a speaker with Alice to the “Hub”, for example “Mini” or “Light”, you can give voice commands.
“Yandex Hub” works from the network, has Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and an infrared port that allows you to control ordinary household appliances with an IR remote control. With the help of the “Hub” it will be possible to turn on the TV or air conditioner by voice.

Yandex offered five Zigbee-compatible sensors: a door and window opening sensor, a light and motion sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor, a leak sensor, and a wireless button.
Sensors can stream data to a mobile app and run entire scenarios. For example, the opening sensor allows you to control whether the country windows are closed. The humidity and temperature sensor will help you create a scenario that regulates the operation of the air conditioner and humidifier.
