How to change the color of the dial on the Apple Watch to whatever you want. The chip is well hidden

Apple Watch faces are still strictly limited in a wide range, but sometimes designers give us some indulgence.

Corporate design and recognition of this easily accessible thing, but the color would not have been chosen from ready-made, but any. Sometimes you don’t like that the desired shade is not bright enough or, conversely, too light. I want to build my own.

Turns out it can be fixed! The function is officially built into dial designer. You just need to know where to look and how to turn it on.

How to set the exact color of the watch face

Instructions for Apple Watch

If you are implementing this through an Apple Watch:

1. Open the desired watch face and clamp it on a chair
2. Click “Edit” and scroll right to the color selection menu
3. Choose from the first 19 colors with the Digital Crown
4. Clicked once on the palette
5. Select a color using the Digital Crown.

Ready. Now the color saturation is what you want. sky blue, Irish, deep purple, Ivory: Yes anything.

Instructions for setting the watch face through the iPhone

The iPhone will be faster. Just a couple of clicks.

For this application Lookoverlay dials select the one you want, then click on one of the first 19 shades and absorb the saturation on the slider under the palette. Start slider automatically if available.

Ready! Now, instead of permanent colors, you have a large range of saturation and concentration. You can not apply it everywhere: 19 dials have protection.

As long as you have many restrictions

These dials work

A chip is enough for all dials with a “classic” layout and widgets. For some, however, only the color of the second hand changes.

All creative options, without divisions, representations and created from photos, do not change the font color.

Doesn’t work on these dials

It is easy to understand on which shade to adjust the quality by the separator between the first 19 colors and other seasonal shades.

If it’s not enough for you, scroll down the palette on the Apple Watch and to the right on the iPhone and click on the “+” icon. There will be shades from the old collection. You can’t change their brightness, but you might get one that suits you.

Also remember that the setting does not work with any gradient.

We are waiting for that redesign of watchOS 10. Maybe there will be as much freedom as in the iOS 16 lock screen.
