Apple has revealed in a new support document that AirPods owners can now update their earbuds’ firmware at any Apple Store. This may be required in case the user does not have any Apple equipment other than headphones.
The company also clarified that the firmware update is installed automatically when AirPods are charged and when they are within range of an iPhone, iPad or Mac connected to Wi-Fi.
AirPods users without an Apple device nearby can visit the Apple Store to update the firmware
Apple AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max receive regular over-the-air firmware updates that are installed via iPhone.
