Utah has recently taken similar steps, and at least three other states are considering similar laws. These laws are part of a growing movement to impose age verification measures and other age restrictions on social media companies.

Under Arkansas law, companies must verify the age of their users with government-issued ID cards or “by any commercially reasonable method of verifying age.” However, the legislation includes a number of exceptions that seem to justify some well-known platforms. For example, platforms focused on “professional communication” and “career development” are exceptions. There are also exceptions that allow the user to “create short video clips of dance, voiceover or other entertainment activities whose primary purpose is not educational or informative”. Exception for TikTok.
