The Ministry of Economic Development shared its forecast for the ruble exchange rate. According to the head of the ministry, Maxim Reshetnikov, the average annual rate of the Russian currency will be 76.5 rubles.
In 2024-2026, Reshetnikov expects a “gentle weakening of the ruble.” The Ministry of Economic Development counts on the restoration of non-commercial energy exports with a reorientation to the markets of “friendly” countries, Reshetnikov noted.
The budget for 2023 included an annual average exchange rate for the US dollar of 68.3 rubles; such a forecast was given by the Ministry of Economic Development in September 2022.
With an increase in imports and sharp changes in oil prices, the US dollar exchange rate in the third quarter of 2023 may rise to 90 rubles, according to Alfa-Bank. The main negative factor for the ruble is the outflow of corporate capital, said the organization’s chief economist Natalia Orlova.
