According to the New York Times, Magi will offer “a more personalized experience than the company’s current service.” The project will include the ability to answer programming questions and generate code at the user’s request.
Currently 160 designers, engineers and managers are working on Magi. It’s expected to be generally available in May, possibly as part of the Google I/O 2023 conference, with additional features arriving in the fall.
Initially, the launch will be limited to the US and a maximum of 1 million users, but will increase to 30 million by the end of the year.
In addition to the Magi project, Google is working on a new AI-powered search engine that is in the early stages of development. This system will present pre-selected shopping options, research information and other data.
