Study participants were 206 women, approximately 28 years old. They were asked to report how often they watched pornography and to rate their preference among the 93 genres available on PornHub.
Psychologists identified four patterns of viewing pornography among participants:
- 39% of respondents preferred various types of pornography.
- 27% of the sample approved only the more socially acceptable depictions of sexual behavior (traditionally feminine scenes).
- 23% of participants were more likely to choose genres that depicted female orgasms.
- 11% of the sample preferred rough sex scenes.
Therefore, the study shows the diversity of preferences among women who watch pornography. They also revealed that there is a direct relationship between these preferences and their sexual experiences and beliefs.
