For two weeks now, medical device manufacturer Masimo has been suing Apple. Details of the case have been released today.

The company accuses the Kupkrtinites of hunting their employees and stealing secrets for the development of the Apple Watch. In particular, Apple developed 5 patents for pulse oximetry using trade information stolen from Masimo.

Masimo wants rights to total ownership of exclusive patents and $3.1 billion in compensation.

Apple hired Macimo Chief Medical Officer Michael O’Reilly in January 2013 and Cercacor CTO Marcelo Lamego in early 2014. Masimo alleges that Apple deliberately stole employees and that Lamego, in particular, shared Masimo’s secret information with Apple. At the same time, Apple stated that it had nothing to do with their own Masimo experience and was based on their talent. Apple claims that former Masimo employees did not disclose anything related to Masimo’s intellectual property when they were working on the Apple Watch.

Lamego states that when he was working on heart rate detection on the Apple Watch, he had to “be careful not to conflict over IP (approx. intellectual property)”. Lamego said his job at Apple dragged on after Mashimo sent a threatening letter after he was hired. This is selected by Apple from the provided resources.

He eventually left, but Mashimo stated that what the doctor shared with Apple at the time played an important role in the development of the Apple Watch.

Apple said in court that Masimo saw the success of the Apple Watch and created its own smartwatch and sued over the incident.
