According to Anastasia Buyalskaya, professor of marketing at HEC Paris, there is no magic number about habit formation.

You may have heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit. But this is not scientifically proven. Research confirms that the speed of habit formation depends on behavior and many other factors.

In the new study, the scientists analyzed data from more than 30,000 gym-goers over four years and more than 3,000 hospital workers in nearly 100 shifts.

The results of the research have shown that some factors are effective in the formation of the habit of doing sports. This time is human behavior in the past. For 76% of people, the time since their last visit to the gym was an important indicator of whether they would go there again. And the more time passed, the less likely it was that going to the gym would become a habit.
