According to the company’s latest forecasts, the number of global OLED shipments will increase from 9.7 million units in 2022 to over 70 million in 2028. Laptops will be the main driver of this growth, but the number of OLED tablets will also increase significantly during this period.
According to experts, the main driver of the expected growth is the increased use of OLED screens in Apple’s devices. Rumor has it that Cupertino will bring the technology to the iPad starting with new iPad Pro models in 2024, followed by the OLED MacBook Pro in 2026.
Apple will almost completely phase out the use of LCD and mini-LED displays in mobile devices by 2026. The report also mentions the foldable 20-inch OLED iPad Pro in the same period.
And in 2027, Apple will likely start using QD-OLED or WOLED panels for 32- and 42-inch displays. They are expected to be equipped with future iMac models or external displays from the Pro Display series.
