Last Tuesday (25), Google announced a new update aimed at helping users. Search for tools in Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps. It is an advanced search bar that promises to help you search for any feature found in apps.

For example, you can open Google Docs, select some words and search for “Bold” to enable the option. Users can search for all the different features of the three platforms, such as changing fonts, adding or removing spreadsheet columns, clearing formatting, and more.

“Starting today, we’re launching an enhanced tool finder at the top of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to make it easier for users to discover commonly used tools and features. For example, if you search for ‘who viewed this document last,’ the activity dashboard will appear” said Google in an official statement.

Here are some suggestions for general operations when opening the tool finder after creating a new file, preparing a new document, spreadsheet or presentation; such as adding rows/columns, spell checking, page configuration, among other features.

Until then, users could search for resources via the “Help” menu bar with a simpler tool finder. However, the option is deprecated and when accessing the tab, the user will be redirected to the enhanced locator.

In any case, the company reports that the redirect will be removed after a short transition period. From there, the enhanced search bar will be permanently pinned to the toolbar.
