According to the 2022 results, Russians made up a third of Georgian immigrants. In second place in this indicator are the Georgians themselves, who returned to the country, and the top three were closed by the Ukrainians, who came to Georgia three times less than the Russians.
In 2022, more than 62 thousand people moved to Georgia from Russia, which is one third of the total number of Georgian immigrants of 179.7 thousand people. Interfax writes about this with reference to data from the Georgian National Statistics Service.
In second place among Georgian immigrants are the Georgians themselves, who returned to the country, their number amounted to 54.4 thousand people. The third place in terms of immigration to Georgia was occupied by Ukrainians – 20.7 thousand people moved to the country, which is three times less than Russians.
Compared to 2021, immigration to Georgia increased 25.3%.
The Russians have also become one of the main buyers of real estate in Georgia among foreigners. In 2022, foreigners bought 15,000 apartments in Georgia, of which more than 6,000 were bought by Russians.
Georgia has become one of the key channels for the emigration of Russians, whose wave began after the start of a special operation in Ukraine and continued after the announcement of a partial mobilization in Russia.
