Rix Capital, a private investment company, has established itself permanently in the St. James area of London, its staff having doubled since the beginning of the year – to 10 people. One of the largest family funds belongs to the brothers Dmitry and Igor Bukhman, who founded the Playrix game development company. The fund, which has opened its head office in London, is supposed to invest in the development of the game creators’ business.
The housewarming, citing sources within the investment fund, was reported by Bloomberg, which estimated that Rix Capital, founded in 2021, manages roughly $4 billion.
Since the beginning of the year, the fund has been looking for a new director and senior investment and legal staff, the agency recalls. Analysts believe the Buchman brothers plan to diversify the use of the billions they have earned from their “entertainment empire” at the fund’s expense.
The Buchmans founded Playrix in 2004, which develops Township, Gardenscapes and other games. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, their combined fortune can now be estimated at $11 billion.
They each had $7 billion last year, according to Forbes, but then they lost more than $2.2 billion between them. They finished in the top 3 Russian billionaires who lost the most money in 2022.
Last fall, the game company left the Russian and Belarusian markets. But in early 2022, Playrix bought a stake in Russian game publisher AppQuantum (which releases the Gold & Goblins, Dragon Champions, and Idle Evil Clicker games).
According to some rankings (for example, from the Udonis agency), Playrix in 2022 was among the top three smartphone game publishers in the world in terms of revenue.
