Experts noted that the rapid discharge of the battery, constant freezing and the appearance of screenshots on the smartphone that the user did not take may indicate that the device has been hacked.
Sitnov warned that a device freezing for no reason can be caused by third-party software that uses a smartphone’s processing power, for example, for mining. Fast battery drain also indicates unnecessary background processes.
The expert talked about the possibility of a keylogger that can access a microphone or smartphone screen. In case of screenshots, screenshots you didn’t take may appear in the gallery. This type of attack is used to obtain personal data such as passwords or bank card details.
Another sign of hacking is the emergence of new applications on the smartphone that require access to the file system, microphone, camera and other elements of the device.
Sitnov suggested deleting suspicious applications and revoking unnecessary access rights, checking the smartphone with an antivirus and resetting the data if the hacking is confirmed.
