Alfa-Bank has launched a “reverse verification” of employees using one-time codes, the lender said in a statement. Now customers can be sure that they are called by an Alfa-Bank employee and not by a scammer.

Alfa-Bank offered customers to check by calling “bank employees” using one-time codes

If the customer receives a call from a bank employee, they can ensure that they are not a scammer by generating a unique one-time code in the Alfa-Bank app and then asking the employee to name it.

The link to the page to generate the code comes in a push notification and is displayed on the main screen of the mobile app.

The feature will be available on the latest two versions of the bank-recommended iOS apps, as well as Android app version 11.60 and above.

“Employee verification is available on the mobile app. The employee will not send SMS and will ask the customer to name the code,” the bank warned.

At the first stage, clients will be able to verify Alfa-Bank security officers, then it will be possible to verify any bank employee.
