Luxembourg holding company ABH Holdings, owner of Alfa-Bank in the Russian Federation, will divest from other assets in Russia, including AlfaStrakhovanie. This is reported by the Russian service of the BBC with reference to the statement of a member of the holding’s board of directors, Andrew Baxter.

“Now we are coordinating with European regulators an agreement on the sale of a Russian bank and an approach for other transactions: sale, redomiciliation [перерегистрация в новой юрисдикции] or restructuring with the spin-off of the business,” Baxter said in a statement, which is available to publishers.

In March, Alfa-Bank announced its intention to change its majority shareholders. The founders of the bank, Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven, decided to sell their shares to Andrey Kosogov, another shareholder of the credit institution.

Now Mikhail Fridman owns 32.9% of ABH Holdings, Petr Aven – 12.4%. Another 40.1% belongs to Andrei Kosogov, who received a stake from German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev. UniCredit SpA owns 9.9%, another 3.9% belongs to the Mark Foundation for Cancer Research.

The source of the publication in the direction of Grupo Alfa confirmed the intention to withdraw all assets from the “unfriendly” jurisdiction.

“Now it is impossible to do business here and there. We expected the Iron Curtain to close on our side, but it closed stronger on that side, so it is impossible to do business in Russia and in the West, ”said a representative of the group.

He also stressed that despite the complexity of the process, the assets will be redomiciliated.
