Presenter Palmira Nery da Silva Onofre, popularly known as Vovó Palmirinha, died today (07) at the age of 91. He had been admitted to a hospital in São Paulo since April 11 and died of worsening chronic kidney problems.

The information was posted on social media by Palmirinha’s family. The old woman leaves behind three daughters/son-in-law, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Relatives of the host said in a post on Instagram that they were “horrified and cannot be consoled”. Family members took the opportunity to praise the progress of “Brazil’s favorite grandmother”.

“As an example of a mother who has always struggled to provide her three daughters with a living, quality education and a dignified life, Palmirinha is a reference to a warrior woman who also knows how to face and overcome life’s challenges,” says an excerpt from the text.

television career

Born on June 29, 1931 in the city of Bauru (SP), Palmirinha debuted in television in 1994 at the age of 63. At that time, when she was discovered by her grandmother, Ana Maria Braga, she joined an article on the Silvia Poppovic program, Band.

After that, the presenter went to Note e Anote, a Recording program, where he presented a table of recipes. In 1999 Palmirinha was hired by TV Gazeta to direct TV Culinária, where she stayed for over eleven years.

In addition to presenting the Programa da Palmirinha, which was on the air until 2015, the personality has also appeared in films, cooking facts and dozens of attractions such as Programa do Jô and Mais Você, Altas Horas.

As Palmirinha’s family put it, she stood out for her sweet and charming way of presenting her recipes, her partnership with the doll Guinho, and also for calling audiences “little buddies.”
