The application was filed with the FCC in mid-March and went public last week. It is based on the Parsec lunar network, which includes various objects communicating with the Earth.
Such objects include spacesuits, lunar rovers, lunar rovers, terminals, and cargo as part of the lunar economy that NASA plans to develop through the Artemis program.
Parsec is a network of small lunar orbiting satellites that allow objects on the Moon’s surface to communicate with each other and with the Earth. The network will also provide data and information transfer from lunar orbit to Earth. The first Parsec satellite is expected to be launched in 2025.
In addition, the company also shared information about Phase 2 and 3 stations, although it only sought approval for Phase 1 equipment. Phase three envisions a nuclear power plant that Lockheed plans to connect to terrestrial and lunar assets to monitor the situation and operation.
